ONYX High Performance Roundslings
The ONYX sling from Slingmax is a lightweight, high-performance roundsling with a core made from 100% HMPE fiber. Designed to elevate safety, boost productivity, and streamline rigging operations, the ONYX sling is ideal for applications where weight, strength, and durability are critical.
Weighing half as much as polyester roundslings of equal capacity and less than 10% the weight of comparable multi-part wire rope slings, the ONYX sling delivers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio without compromising performance. This makes it easier to handle, faster to rig, and safer for crews—especially in complex or repetitive lifting environments.
Protected by a double-layered high quality polyester outer jacket—black on the outside and red on the inside for easy visual damage inspection—the ONYX sling is built to resist abrasion, chemicals, and wear in demanding environments. This rugged jacket construction helps maintain performance under extreme job-site conditions.
The ONYX sling is available in a wide range of capacities and configurations, with custom solutions available upon request.

Inside every Slingmax Onyx roundsling is our new O-Spec core yarn—a cost-effective, high-performance fiber engineered for reliability and consistent strength. Proudly manufactured in North Carolina, USA, O-Spec delivers reliable performance without compromising safety or quality.
Every Onyx synthetic sling also includes our patented Rifled Cover Technology®, which boosts sling efficiency and durability without adding weight. O-Spec’s construction ensures excellent fiber on fiber abrasion resistance and cycling performance.
Setting The Standard With Testing
Unlike standard industry practices, Slingmax has rigorously validated Onyx sling capacities through extensive break testing, verifying performance up to 300,000 lbs. This comprehensive testing approach distinguishes Onyx slings from competitors, who often rely solely on theoretical calculations. As a result, users can confidently depend on the proven reliability, durability, and superior safety margins provided by Slingmax Onyx slings.
Slingmax® Onyx slings are single-path, high-performance roundslings designed for heavy lift. Onyx slings utilize O-Spec, an exclusive, 100% HMPE core fiber, which is made in North Carolina by Slingmax and engineered specifically to maximize strength and minimize weight.
ONYX Cover
Protecting the load-bearing core yarn of the ONYX Sling is an abrasion resistant double-layer polyester cover. This sling cover consists of two separate layers of material which provides abrasion and UV light resistance, If the outer black jacket becomes damaged, the red inner jacket will be exposed, alerting the user to remove the sling from service.
Precision Fabrication of Synthetic Slings
Every lift is critical, and precision is built into every Onyx Sling. Slings can be made with tolerances as tight as +/- 1” and you can be rest assured that slings will match when constructed in sets. Onyx slings have less than 1% elongation at their rated capacity, ensuring precise control over tight tolerances.
